The cry of a nation...

Today more than ever the Turkish people is clamoring for freedom, justice and dignity.

  • We can pray that the Son make them free (John 8:36),
  • That they may meet Him who will bring lasting justice (Isaiah 9:7),
  • And that they will give back the dignity of the divine image in Christ (Ephesians 4:13).

Flash: "You shall name him Ishmael, for the LORD has heard of your misery." (Gn 16:11)

...

What should our prayer be?

Every Muslim feels heir to the religion of Abraham through Ishmael, until the prophet Muhammad.

In the biblical story of Ishmael in Genesis 16 and 21, there are three points to which we need to pay attention:

a) The promise of multiplication (16:10),

b) God's answer to the cry of Hagar and Ishmael (16:11, 21:17), and

c) God opening their eyes for them to see the water spring (21:19).

These three points give us a prophetic vision of what He wanted and wants to do with the Ishmaelites...

a) Multiply a people to become His (i.e., multiplication is expressed as a sign of divine blessing);

b) There is an incessant clamor to a distant Allah - perpetuated five times a day among the vast Muslim people that God wants to answer, and

c) He wants open their eyes so they may see Him who gives living water.

These three points are and should be our clamor in favor for the Muslim people, to the One who sees their anguish and leads to the springs of living waters!
